Claiming your alias.boo handle

The rules for alias.boo/yourname, and why some names are held back.

The rules

• 1 to 20 characters. 1 to 3 are for Plus members.
• Lowercase letters, numbers, dots and underscores.
• It can't start or end with a dot or underscore, and no double dots or double underscores.

Names you can't take

Words the site itself uses (like help, status or studio) are reserved. A few names only the team can hold, so nobody poses as Kh8da or staff.

Premium handles (3 characters or less, and a list of iconic words) are not on sale yet. Hit the list on one and you hear first when it drops.

Changing it later

Studio, settings. Type the new handle and alias asks first, naming the one you leave.

• The old handle keeps sending visitors to your page and stays yours for 7 days. Nobody else can take it, and you can switch back to it any time in those days. Then it frees: anyone can take it, and you can have it again after 7 more days.
• One move every 7 days. Switching back to a handle that is still yours doesn't count.
